About Parth Jamodkar
Parth Jamodkar is a threat hunter and detection engineer researching how attackers move through modern cloud/AI and endpoint environments, and how defenders can find them faster. His work spans threat hunting and detection engineering, threat intelligence, cloud security and AI security with a focus on Microsoft Defender XDR and Microsoft Sentinel as detection surfaces. Recent research applies AI security thinking to real-world intrusions, mapping adversary behavior to MITRE ATT&CK to turn one-off findings into durable, reusable detections. Parth publishes this work through Microsoft's security research channels, open-source detection content, and conference talks, with the goal of shortening the distance between a novel technique and a detection engineers can ship.
Career
Timeline
2024 – Present
Senior Threat Hunter · Microsoft — Defender Experts (DEX)
Hunts nation-state actors and phishing/malware-as-a-service operations at scale across cloud, endpoint, and network telemetry for thousands of enterprise customers — turning every finding into durable, deployable KQL and YARA detections.
2026
International Conference Speaker
Sharing threat hunting and detection engineering research with the community on the conference stage, including SECCON 14 (Tokyo) and CyberLab Con 2026.
Ongoing
AI Security Research
Expanding research into AI security — mapping how living-off-the-land and adversarial techniques apply to AI systems and tooling, and building AI-assisted investigative workflows for threat hunting.
Ongoing
Open Source Contributions
Contributing to community open-source security projects — including a merged SigmaHQ detection rule, LOLBAS and the LOLAI project, and a published Exploit-DB GHDB dork — alongside a personal detection rules repository.
2023 – 2024
Cloud Security Researcher III · Hyland
Built a cloud Security Operations Center from the ground up — defining IR workflows, detection engineering, CSPM, and vulnerability management across hybrid AWS and Azure environments.
2022
Community Workshops & Guest Sessions
Delivered cyber security workshops and guest sessions at engineering colleges and universities — including KBC North Maharashtra University (Jalgaon) and Bharati Vidyapeeth's College of Engineering for Women (Pune).
2020 – 2023
Senior Threat Researcher · LTIMindtree (Microsoft XDR)
Led threat detection and hunting for Microsoft XDR customers using KQL, custom YARA signatures, and MITRE ATT&CK across cloud-native and endpoint telemetry — building detections for pre-ransomware activity, loaders, and lateral movement.
2019 – 2020
Security Researcher · Persistent Systems
Performed full-stack vulnerability assessments and red-team penetration testing for enterprise clients, authoring risk-driven remediation reports. Recognised as a "Standout Performer."
